Birchwood and Orford waste investigations lead to court penalties
Two council reports describe separate cases following unpaid household-waste penalties.
Two Warrington residents have been ordered to pay a combined £2,835 after separate investigations into waste found in Birchwood and Orford, according to council reports.
In the Birchwood case, household rubbish was found in woodland on Kingfisher Close. The resident admitted failing to meet household-waste duty-of-care requirements. The £1,555 total included a £120 fine, £86 surcharge, £729 prosecution costs and £620 clean-up costs.
The Orford investigation concerned furniture packaging and cardboard in an alleyway on Sharp Street. The council says the resident pleaded guilty after an unpaid fixed penalty notice led to court proceedings. That bill totalled £1,280.
The reports were published on 29 and 30 October. The council reminds residents to check that anyone taking away their rubbish is an authorised waste carrier. Neither case should be read as proof that the resident personally dumped the material.
